Town Clerk's Office

The Town Clerk's Office is central to the Town Council's activities, taking care of general secretarial business besides giving the legal and administrative support needed for holding the Council meetings and for following up. It publishes the by-laws, prepares the public notices required by law, and obtains approval of by-laws and resolutions when necessary.

The Town Clerk's Office is also in charge of receiving and opening public tenders, in addition to seeing to the annual sale of property for unpaid taxes. The Town Clerk keeps the Town's documents and archives, and takes care of writing up, publishing, and filing the Council's decisions.

Furthermore, he or she enforces the Act Respecting Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information within Town Hall. Lastly, he or she is the official returning officer, and supervises voting procedures during municipal elections or referenda.
