Public Safety and Fire Fighting

The Town of Gaspé has a fire fighting department that is adapted to the special geographical conditions of its territory. Seven (7) firehalls are dotted over the whole of the territory in order to ensure efficient service. Nearly 80 part time firefighters make up the department, seeing to the safety of Gaspé's citizens.

Besides fire fighting, the firefighters and a rescue team ensure emergency interventions in situations such as road accidents, hazardous spills, or floods, in addition to carrying out sea and forest search and rescue operations.

The Town of Gaspé 's Fire Fighting Department is a major partner in the security of the whole of the intervention sectors of the town. That department and the Executive Department are jointly in charge of implementing Gaspé's airport safety and security measures.
